The Ridgeway (A441) was an old Celt trail that can be traced back to pre-historic times. At the point in the drawing the Ridgeway crossed the Saltway where the Neville Arms now stands. The Malvern Hills can be seen in the background
The Saltway was so called because of the salt mines at Droitwich Spa and was used to transport salt to Londinium (London)
