Snowy Day - Himbleton

Watercolour: Signed and dated 1980

Image Size: 420mm x 300mm - Framed: 710mm x 565mm

The paitning is from Bow Brook which runs throught he village of Himbleton. In the background are St. Mary Magdalene church and the vicarage

This painting was used on the cover of the Readers Digest magazine in 1980, however there was a problem with the size of the painting as it would not fit exactly on the cover. Readers Digest asked Norman if he could extend the painting, which he did and added an area to the bottom of the painting.

Readers Digest also didn't think that the horse drawn cart in the painting was in keeping with the times and asked Norman if he could alter it. Again Norman agreed and he painted a tractor which you see in the picture today. However the original horse is still underneath the tractor

An interesting painting with a lovely story and one of the largest paintings of this period. There was also a companion to the painting titled Autumn
